This year’s Hug Your Farmer celebrates the 50th anniversary of The Last Waltz, The Band’s legendary farewell concert and one of the most beloved moments in American music history.

An all-star lineup of Vermont musicians and special guests to revisit the songs, spirit, and communal magic of that classic night. Expect a joyful, genre-spanning tribute filled with rock and roll, roots, soul, folk, gospel, blues, and Americana — the music that shaped The Band and continues to inspire generations.

Now in its 16th year, Select’s music benefit series has raised more than $1 million for local Vermont farming initiatives. In the last three years alone, Hug Your Farmer concerts have raised more than $500,000 for the Vermont Community Foundation’s farming initiatives. Along the way, Hug Your Farmer has become one of Vermont’s great annual musical traditions: a night when artists, audiences and community come together in celebration and support of the farmers who sustain our state.

The Vermont Community Foundation (Vermontcf.org) inspires giving and brings together people and resources to make a difference in Vermont. Through targeted grants and community partnerships, VCF supports impactful responses to the challenges facing Vermont’s working lands and rural communities.

Vermont farmers continue to face a difficult and uncertain year. After the punishing effects of recent extreme weather, including drought conditions that strained crops, livestock operations, hay supplies and farm finances, many producers are still working to recover while planning for another unpredictable season. At the same time, shifting federal agricultural support, rising costs, tariffs and trade disruptions, and heightened immigration enforcement concerns affecting valued migrant farmworkers have added new layers of pressure to farms already operating on tight margins. Anyone who has spent time on a farm knows how much depends on timing — when to buy, when to plant, when to cut hay, when to invest, and when to hold back.
